Bayer
Redwood Falls Production Pollinator Habitat
Redwood Falls, Minnesota, United States
Certified through 2025
Bayer’s Redwood Falls facility is located 125 miles southwest of Saint Paul, Minnesota. The company encourages facilities to convert unused corporate lands to conservation areas. While the facility is predominantly agricultural fields, mowed turf grass areas in proximity to a building on site were converted into grassland habitat. The project started in 2015 with a conservation objective to establish and manage grassland habitat for native pollinators and engages employees in habitat conservation.
- The team manages two pollinator gardens on-site totaling approximately two acres.
- The team monitors plant species diversity, bloom time, and observations of monarch caterpillars and butterflies that utilize the grassland. In addition to monitoring, they control unwanted thistles within the project area.
