The Victorville Cement Plant in Southern California was established in 1916 and underwent extensive expansions in 1997 and 2001. Today, it has the capacity to produce more than 3 million tons of cement annually to provide the building blocks for schools, roadways and homes across California, Nevada and Arizona. The facility has one acre of quality pollinator habitat for wildlife living in the Mojave Desert.
Practices and Impacts
- The Victorville team maintains an oasis in the desert that attracts local pollinators and wildlife by providing essential food, water, and shelter. The one-acre area includes native desert plants to attract native wildlife.
