About the Program
The BASF Corporation Florham Park Headquarters in New Jersey manages various pollinator gardens throughout their campus, creating new and improved habitat for native pollinator species. This site is located among a patchwork of other nearby natural areas helping to provide corridors for wildlife around the major metropolitan areas of Newark, New Jersey and New York City, New York. Their program was originally certified in 2016, and they have added new native species plant beds to the property every year since. Currently, the building is surrounded by vibrant pollinator habitats. In addition, they conduct frequent educational and volunteer experiences for the local employees to further their understanding of how native plants enhance pollinator habitat.

Practices and Impacts
  • The team maintains three acres of grassland areas, and native pollinator gardens are incorporated throughout the site's design to provide habitat for native pollinators. The plants are chosen to provide continuous blooms throughout the season.
  • Since the site was last certified in July 2021, the species of bees and butterflies making use of the pollinator gardens has been monitored throughout the growing season.
  • The team provides a learning activity through Earth Day celebrations that include planting of native species.
  • There are educational opportunities presented through email as well as seed collections in-habitat.
