Morton, Pennsylvania, United States
Certified through 2024
Exelon Corporation's Morton Wetland is located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, just west of Philadelphia. The 1.76-acre mitigation wetland was created in 2007. Regulatory requirements were fulfilled in 2011, but wetland management and monitoring have continued. Species on-site include a variety of native grasses, sedges, forbs and trees. The team aims to control invasive species, promote native species and enhance wildlife habitat.
Practices and Impacts
- The wetland was first created through a combination of native seed planting, invasive species control and hydrology enhancement.
- The team partners with consultants to monitor vegetation and wildlife use biannually.
- Nest boxes and raptor perches were installed to encourage wildlife use of the habitat.
- Wildlife observed on-site include white-tailed deer, red fox and a variety of bird species.
