The Exelon Corporation’s BGE - Patuxent National Research Refuge ROW Partnership site is in Laurel, Maryland, located between Washington, D.C., and Baltimore. The site extends approximately 5.5 miles across the Patuxent National Wildlife Research Refuge and is used as a 330-foot-wide electrical transmission line. The site is a total of 8,000 acres with 200 actively managed for wildlife. The conservation objective is to implement conservation measure-based vegetation management within the right-of-way, promoting native grassland habitat that includes diverse native grasses and wildflowers.

Practices and Impacts
- The dominant vegetation types in all transects were forbs, shrubs and grasses. Forbs were most prevalent in the late spring and late summer, while grasses peaked in late summer. Shrubs were most prevalent in midsummer. Invasive and noxious weeds were observed throughout the season at the Patuxent monitoring site.
- The habitat quality rating is influenced by the seasonality of flowering forbs and other habitat characteristics.
