Voyageur Industrial Landfill

About the Program
Voyager Industrial Landfill, a part of WM, is located in Canyon, Minnesota, near the shore of Lake Superior. The team recognizes the valuable habitat available on-site and are interested in ensuring this habitat can benefit native species. 

Practices and Impacts

• The mammal conservation project at this site targets small mammals, specifically rabbits, squirrels and chipmunks, with the objective of providing a safe area for small mammals. Since 2010, the team continues to provide these animals with habitat space and cover via brush piles, which the team creates, installs and maintains on a regular basis.
• In addition, the team monitors the habitat for use by native mammal species.
