Practices and Impacts
- On a one-acre parcel, Georgia-Pacific is working with the American Chestnut Foundation to test the blight resistance of 15/16 American to Chinese Chestnut hybrid.
- This is essentially a 20-year monitoring project that is approximately half completed.
- Trees were planted and fenced to protect from browsers, and growth and survival are being monitored over time to determine survivability and suitability for use in the restoration of chestnuts in the eastern US.
- The site monitors mammal species and provides nutrition through food plots.
