Practices and Impacts
- In an effort to support native cavity-nesting bird species, the team manages and monitors 19 bluebird houses throughout their property. Native plants at the site help to provide sources of forage and shelter for the birds. Species observed using the nesting boxes include eastern bluebirds, chickadees, Carolina wrens and tree swallows. In 2023, 159 eggs were observed in 42 different nests.
- The site includes trail cameras to document wildlife use. The trail cameras have documented various bird species in the woodland area including red-shouldered hawks and barred owls.
